Why people leave CrossFit for weightlifting. Good read but from my experiences I will have to disagree from these points for the most part. Not everyone can go to that “special place” and stay there.

    If I may, there’s a lot of debate about going to the ‘special place’ and staying there. There’s certainly those of us who are capable of continuing the exert effort at high levels of pain and blood lactate. For the most part I’d argue that the majority should not be going to this place much, if at all. Rather training should be just below this threshold.

    The difficulty, given CrossFit’s variance, is it’s much harder to predict how close you are to that line that in a single modality. You can tell you’re running too fast for a 5K, or lifting too much for a 5RM, but understanding how close you are to muscle failure, OBLA, over-exertion on 14.4 is much harder.
